Admission process and requirements

To be eligible for admissions, candidates applying to the Program must fulfill the following:
 

A completed application form

Available here, this form takes only a few minutes to complete and is free of charge.
 

Diploma and transcripts of undergraduate university

A bachelor's degree from an approved (accredited) institution. Applicants must have a degree comparable to an approved U.S. bachelor's degree.
CEU Business School requires certified copies of the diploma and transcripts (academic records) in original language accompanied by official English translations.
Copies and translations may be certified either by the degree granting institution (there must be must a seal and signature in ink from the institution's authorized official, such as the registrar or recorder of records) or by a notary public.
This process may take some time, so it is strongly suggested that upon completing the application, student submit unofficial copies of their diploma and transcripts.
 

A professional resumé

This resume should include details of the candidate’s full and part-time employment record, including the nature of work and responsibilities and the evolution of professional activities. 
CEU Business School requires a minimum of two years of work experience for applicants to its graduate programs. However, exceptional candidates with limited work experience may be considered.
 

A Motivational Essay

We require an essay written on the applicant's motivation for applying to the Program. This essay may be sent via post or emailed to the Admissions Office.
 

A Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) score

It is mandatory for all applicants to take the GMAT prior to entering the Program. Please direct the testing service to forward your test results to CEU Business School (institution code: 0203).
An acceptable GMAT is required for all applicants to our graduate business programs. The test must have been taken within five years of the term for which you are applying.

A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or equivalent exam

Applicants whose native language is not English or whose undergraduate instruction was not in English must complete either the computer-based (230 or higher), paper-based (570 or higher) or Internet-based (88 or higher) TOEFL examination.
Please direct the Educational Testing Service to forward your test results taken within two years of your intended start term to the CEU Business School (institution code: 0203).

Other tests which are accepted for admission are listed below:
  • IELTS, Minimum Score Required: 6.5
  • CAE (Cambridge Advanced English Test), Minimum Score Required: B   
  • CPE (Cambridge Proficiency Exam), Minimum Score Required: C
Non-native English speakers who fall in one of the following categories may request a waiver of this requirement:
  • Applicants from countries where English is one of several official languages that have obtained their undergraduate degree from an English-language university.
  • Applicants who have spent a minimum of two consecutive academic years of study at a recognized English-language university or institution of higher education in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States within the last five years.
  • Applicants who have earned their full undergraduate degree in an English-language program at a University in an EU country, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland or Turkey within the last five years. 
In all the above mentioned cases CEU Business School reserves the right to request evidence of English language proficiency.
 

Two letters of recommendation

Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation assessing their ability to conduct graduate-level work and their potential for a successful professional career.
The letters of recommendation can be completed by supervising employers, former professors, etc., who are most familiar with the applicant's professional and/or academic abilities and character.
We encourage referees to submit recommendation letters directly to our Admissions Office via email or post.
When received through the applicants, the Admissions Office will accept recommendation letters only if they are in a sealed envelope, with the referee's signature across the sealed envelope flap.
 
 

Selection Criteria 

Criteria for the acceptance into the Program includes previous academic performance, work experience, managerial potential, internal motivation, GMAT and TOEFL scores and other personal characteristics.   
 
It is very important to us that our Business School and the program chosen are the right fit for you and will help you reach your career goals. Therefore, interviews are held with all qualified applicants, in most cases in person (either in Budapest or at various locations in other countries), or by telephone when necessary.
 
  

Admission’s Confirmation

Upon admission, the applicant is notified by the CEU Business School’s decision (with any conditions to the Program if certain criteria have not yet been met).
The notification will include the following: 
  • Request for acceptance of offer of admission
  • A deposit of 500 Euro to hold candidate placement into the Program.
